Hey all,

I slept horrendously last night, and the weather has been humid and icky. So, I've not even switched my PC on all day.

I've added final varnish into some #pyrography products, and penultimate layers onto others.

Yesterday, I was dumb and did that indoors, sooo I did it outdoors as its recommended for not, you know, breathing in stuff you shouldn't.

i noticed that Sugru mouldable silicone glue was bought by Tesa, and suddenly there is no stock available anywhere in canada, and prices are insane

does anyone know of a comparable product for mouldable silicone glue? there must be a competitor by now - it's been around for over 10 years

In my continued quest to make recycled deck boxes... I've got this new one! Made it following a tutorial by a lovely man who spoke only German.

Unfortunately, this one is just a little bit too small to properly fit a commander deck. Not the fault of my poor German skills though! I just added in extra panels to glue it more solidly instead of just using tape like he did and forgot to include that in the measurements.

I'll be changing the glue flaps for the next build and adding a few centimeters for safety, but I think I got this one down. For now, this can house a bunch of six sided dice I thrifted the other day (retired casino dice, so extra nice).

Finished project! A "button-up" shirt (with metal pops instead of buttons).

I made the pattern by tracing from a shop-bought shirt I like, after SO many failed attempts at drafting from my measurements and the tests not fitting right.

The fabric is 100% cotton "typewriter poplin", which is super tightly woven and crispy. I just chose it because I love the colour, I do Not intend to ever iron any of my clothing so it will be rumpled forever.

Process 🧵...

The other day I was introduced to #Kumihimo, or a style of Japanese braiding. I learned one style, but would like to learn more of them, both round and flat. Much of what I'm finding for instructions online are based on following pictures or diagrams, so not useful for me. The books I found on Bookshare also are very picture-heavy. Does anyone have any idea where I could find written instructions for different kinds of braids? I'm also trying to think of a good way to adapt my disks and plates so that if I need to be able to referred to the numbered slots I have a way of doing that. So if any of my blind followers or anyone who is good with description has any ideas or suggestions for me please reach out. #crafting

🇬🇧 Today's amigurumi is Sócrates. From the last version I changed the beard. Of course, it's not a professional photo or anything. It's just a photo to record how I chose to make the amigurumi.
It's entirely original (that's why some things can be improved in future versions).
Amigurumi is an art made with #Crochet. For this little friend, founder of Corinthian Democracy and great advocate for direct elections in Brazil during a period of civil-military dictatorship and who later became a SUS doctor, football was as important as democracy, freedom and human rights.
For this project I used Balloon amigo yarn in black, amigurumi white, almond, aluminum and brownie. And Fischer brown embroidery thread. Plus embroidery needle, 2.20 and 2.75 hooks.

Finished this quick little knit over two nights! A soap sack/sock, the third I've made, this time for my S.O. ^^ 100% cotton, a nice little thing to keep your soap from slipping from your hands in the shower. I've been using my own for months now and I love it! And after showing this off to some friends I now have a couple more to make… :da_sweat:

You can find this free pattern on Ravelry: ravelry.com/patterns/library/w

(or here if you don't have a Ravelry account: drive.google.com/file/d/1PEL_L)

Next Step. The 80ties called and want their rocailles back. 😅 Maybe I went a little bit haywire with them - but I love sewing these Kanzashi flowers and really like the effect of the strings of glass beads. (Washed the fabric, before that I replaced the pencil drawing with a basted seam that will go later too.)

Today's little woodwork project was making this book holder ring for my wife, made from another offcut of oak from a kitchen drawer front used previously for making pen trays. Shaped and sanded then finished with a clear wax that gives it a lovely smooth feel and a gentle sheen. You can buy them online cheaply but there is some joy in making things 🙂

Scrap fabric bucket hat! I've always felt i look a right egg in any hats, but i love the shade they give so i'm gradually getting used to them. This is my first bucket hat ever, self-made or otherwise. Idk maybe it looks okay on my egg head? 😂 the hat itself turned out so cute, especially with the broderie anglaise on one side and mint green on the other. It's the free bucket hat pattern from Mood, but with the modification of making it fully reversible.
