However, if he were to flip it, that could potentially allow Republicans to seize control of the Senate.<br>Hogan has been popular in Maryland by burnishing his reputation as an anti-Trump moderate Republican, but on the issue of abortion specifically, his past record is anything but moderate.<br>Hogan vetoed legislation in 2022 that would’ve expanded abortion in Maryland, but, now that he is a candidate for Senate, he has since attempted to reassure concerned abortion-rights voters by stating he ‘will continue to protect your right to make your own reproductive choices.’ There is significant concern that, should Republicans win back both the Senate and White House, they could vote to pass a federal abortion ban in 2025. If elected to the Senate, Hogan’s vote in either direction would be a crucial deciding factor.
