@wigglytuffitout@elekk.xyzthere are many reasons to hate the new joker movie but i feel like one that leaves me the most generally disgusted is that... i understand the joker as a character better than most of hollywood it seems, and i am far, far, FAR from a batfan
stop trying to explain the joker. he works best as the villain when he is an inexplicable force of nature. the bruce timm animated series got this right, folks.
don't reinvent the wheel. respect what makes the joker a compelling villain IT'S SIMPLE
@wigglytuffitoutAND STOP TRYING TO MAKE HARLEY/JOKER A COMPELLING ROMANTIC SHIP
again. the animated series did this fuckin right.
it's terrifying because it's an example of *near-textbook* abuse.
and it demonstrates why you shouldn't explain the joker. harley thought she could explain the joker. harley thought she could fix him. harley is wrong.
THIS IS WHAT MAKES THE JOKER TERRIFYING. and this is what makes the relationship TRAGIC - and SCARY
@wigglytuffitouttrying to explain the joker is a bit like...
trying to write a novel like lovecraft where it's an ancient unknowable evil that drives people mad just by knowing about it
as soon as you try to exactly tell people what it looks like, the magic ends up broken. unknowable things are always scarier than known things.
which is scarier: what you imagine cthulu looks like, or this squiddyface just having a think as he poops on the toilet because he forgot his smartphone?
@InspectorCaracal@tootplanet.space@wigglytuffitout so what you're saying is that Hollywood is in an abusive relationship with the Joker
