DID YOU KNOW: In my early days of game dev, I worked on one of the first commercial ARGs? I was still working with QA in a network/design security role and was tasked with seeing how much damage I could do trying to hijack and abuse the narrative. It was a highlight of my career!
The team I created "red teamed" our remote QA in Austin and Redwood Shores while they were doing smoke and regression tests and managed to hit the entire test bay with a virus, steal (fake internal) credit card information. I even managed to completely nuke the hard drive contents of an entire studio QA team.
The game was eventually shut down citing commercial reasons, but the main reason (that was not mentioned for publicity sake) was the inability to secure the design from bad actors.
