Thinking in prose about COVID and the work ahead of us on climate change

COVID surged through humanity like lightning, shutting down cities, schools, and distant industrial centers. As the toxic fumes of capitalism cleared the sky, the earth opened its eyes and stretched its arms for the first time in centuries.

At least I got to see it smile one last time, before the return to normalcy laid it to rest.

Making fun of Trump about his size, body, or eating habits is fatphobic. Those traits aren’t the source of his evil anyway. Be clear about his evil and how it’s NOT related to his body or eating habits.

I went on the Impossible Coin podcast this week to talk about VR and shit all over Facebook. If you're into video game industry podcasts with a fireside vibe, give it a shake.

This is the first cat I've had that really just couldn't give a damn about a box.

VR tip for streamers: If your guardian boundary is getting in the way (IR cameras punching through or the wire frame) you can use rugs inside the boundary instead and you'll feel when you're about to reach the boundary with your feet.

Just make sure to give yourself a buffer between the rug and the boundary!

Be the juggernaut of compassion that they fear you to be.

At some point between filming these BLACKPINK videos I think Lisa lost a sleeve and I'm kind of worried about it. Maybe if they retrace their steps, you know? Whose area were they in at the time?

LIke I know we can't agree on how to pronounce gif, but that's going too far.

how does mastodon expect me to take it seriously when it's like "here's a gif" and then it's an mp4?

Lumo's £1.99 on Switch atm.

I've always wanted to make a 1.99 game. :D

Tip for folks using VR to get exercise: go grab some cheap gloves to prevent sweat from getting into your motion controllers. Not only is moisture damage rarely covered by warranty, it can effect everything from buttons, to LED functionality, to Bluetooth.

You can do gloves specially made for it or super cheap ones from $1 stores. You can even cut the fingers off and have fun with it.

What is everyone getting into this fine night. Or day.

I've become quite the Dunning-Kruger Cowboy, if I do say so myself.

I shall not look at uspol stuff tonight! NONE SHALL PASS!

I got my hands back! My VR HMD is back from the shop with a replaced left motion controller. Yay! I'll try it out a bit tonight, I think.

Maybe I should stream some Population One or Phasmaphobia?

Good morning.

There's plenty of anxiety to go around for USians, particularly today, and us USians have a tendency to make our anxieties the anxieties of the world.

Don't feel like you need to watch the spectacle. Don't feel like you're required to do some sort of penance by staying glued to the current events feeds all around you.

Have a snack. Play a game. Listen to your favorite songs. Smoke a bowl. Nap.

You and yours are more important than the spectacle.

Self care is civil defense.

Unpopular Opinion: The pinephone was more usable as a phone without the CRUST firmware. The trade between battery life and "not making calls after 80% of suspend/resume cycles" was not good.

After battling my VR headset vendor's warranty system for 2 weeks (it kept resetting the warranty status) and having to get multiple emails sent to the repair company, the return mail system refused to add my unit number.

So when they unit came, it went to the property manager. This isn't a problem, but the property manager is elderly and mistakenly gave them old unit information (units that no longer exist) causing UPS to leave with the package.

This isn't the end of the world, UPS says to update the delivery address. But when I do that, it throws a non-descriptive error.

When I call, they said they'll call the driver and call us back...

The issues just never stop.

a squat lobster is a lobster that settles on property without right or title or payment of rent

squat lobster, proletarian hero

I had a dream, which was not all a dream.
The bright sun was extinguish'd, and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space,
Rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth
Swung blind and blackening in the moonless air;
Morn came and went—and came, and brought no day

Lord Byron was pretty good with words, I guess.
