I finally get freecell. It's just like an IPA: People who don't know better try it out and think it's good.

@sir @stevefoerster

This is nuts. We've been finding favicons just fine for, what, 25 years now? How on Earth does this seem acceptable?

It seems more and more like the only decent browser is lynx.

While I'm in this thread, does anyone have a good alternative to DDG for search engines? I've yet to find a searx instance that isn't abysmal, but I'm more than happy to try them.

Spoiler Warning

It is the nature of companies to act in a way that earns them the most profit.

Addendum 1: "If you aren't paying for it you're not the customer, your the product" is often true and often forgotten.

Addendum 2: Companies have been known to outright lie to or otherwise deceive their customers to increase their profit. Being a paying customer does not guarantee your best interests are being met.

@mint Sometimes I wonder how to get into the front-end dev industry, so I can make sure it never happens to me.

Getting some custom coins made to commemorate my group finishing Tomb of Annihilation. Really excited about how the design turned out! If you're interested in getting a few, let me know, I need to order way more than I need!

@chris

Now, granted, I don't buy as much music as I did when I was a teenager, but it seems to me that most bands and musicians still release physical media. Maybe smaller names aren't, but before the world of streaming, would those smaller names be releasing a lot of media anyway?

@chris

Gosh, if only there were some way to own a physical analog of your music. Like, some kind of disk, or tape.

@glenda

Yes, please sign me up. I've had space-j.am with a plan of doing the same thing for way too long, but I'm just not that good with Plan 9.

Irrationaly angry; javascript

I just learned about the JavaScript function isNaN().

God I fucking hate JavaScript.

Are there any good discussion groups anymore? At this point, I'd be willing to lurk on any existing groups but I'd like to use my usenet subscription for more than downloading movies.

@grainloom look at that rad 1980s dual screen setup at 3:13 though! That's the real reason it costs $500 for a floppy!

Dang, found this old logo for an idea that fizzled out years ago. Wish we would have kept that idea going.

I am not at all comfortable with the way Darian prowls on those little girls.

i'm mad and probably irrational (gaming)

good lord. i just bought an asus rog motherboard and it doesn't ship with drivers?? wtf? or it does, but literally NONE of them are the ones I need. who's fucking idea was that? why would you ship a disk without drivers? Why bother shipping a disk at all??

@moiety

Chaotic Good, though I've been every single one at some point in my life.
