@noelle I have to ask the question. What happened? Or is there an obvious explanation obtainable through a single ddg-search?
@silentsolidarity If I remember correctly: the admin of w.t had stepped down for a while and left running the instance to a moderation team. They did something the admin didn't like, so she fired them all and took back over. Then she started getting criticism about something she'd said and refused to back down from, so she decided she didn't want to run an instance at all and refused to give it to anyone else, so she announced she was shutting it down.
@noelle Thank you for answering! Has anyone documented the points of contention from a neutral or verifiable standpoint? Where and how do I have to ask for further information?

Why the heck would people be mean to someone who doesn't know an instance was closed? They are the *least* likely of *anyone* to be aware that it was problematic.
