According to St. Bede - who is really the only source we have for this - the name "Easter" is derived from a pre-Christian English goddess, Ēostre, who was associated with the beginning of spring. Our April was their Ēosturmōnaþ, when they would have feasts in her honor, and the Christians folded that into their Pascha holiday, which happened around the same time.

(And no, it's not at all a coincidence that Easter/Pascha and Passover happen at roughly the same time.)
