Remember: In #StarWars, when Obi-Wan refers to Darth Vader as "Darth", some people think it's a goof, that Obi-Wan is using it like a first name. He's not. He's mocking Vader, using his title as a way to remind him of the atrocities he's committed.
We're so used to calling Darth Vader simply "Vader" as shorthand, and calling him "Darth" feels weird, but replace "Darth" with "Baron" - it sounds much more natural then.

@noelle @grainloom i personally thought the reason was just that lucas didn't yet decide that "darth" was a title and not a name by that point, but sure, that also fits nicely.
