No one in the world is so uniquely skilled that someone else can't do the same work, and "but they're working for free" isn't a meaningful argument when there are people desperate to get into open-source coding who'd gladly do the same.

@noelle I watched a place I used to work lose a dozen very qualified and talented people because the boss refused to fire one toxic person on the grounds that “but she works so hard and no one else would ever take this job” when there are a hundred people in town falling over themselves to get her job.
