Whenever I want to tell cover artists "hey, so, you don't have to bring all the instruments in at the same time and it's better if you don't", this is one of my go-to pieces to illustrate that: Portal 2, "The Courtesy Call". youtube.com/watch?v=DuC6fqK1sw

(Note specifically how one of the major instruments doesn't come in until more than a minute after the song starts - and how the rest of the instrumentation masks that it IS an instrument for another few seconds.)

I was brought to mind of that by Ridley's Theme from Super . All the covers I can find of it come in with guns blazing, but part of the /point/ of the theme is that it starts out evoking an alarm going off. If you're bringing in all the instruments at once you lose the starkness of the "OH SHIT" klaxon sounding. youtube.com/watch?v=9toMoL8fW-
