No wonder people don't really know how much a billion is... When we have stuff like this lurking:

"The old UK meaning of a billion was a million million, or one followed by twelve noughts (1,000,000,000,000). The USA meaning of a billion is a thousand million, or one followed by nine noughts (1,000,000,000)."

In Swedish we still use this meaning Biljon.

We use miljard (milliard) to denote what is now called billion.

English, stop changing meanings of shit..

@maloki it wouldn't be English if it wasn't confusing, contradictory, and able to be used in at least two different ways in the same context.

@maloki this applies to both American English and British English, because of course the word "English" has to be a self-demonstrating example of this baloney.

@maloki reminds me of the Tonne, US Ton and the Imperial Ton.

I once had a meeting where all three where used interchangeably by different international partners and I had to stop everyone on the call and convert mass to kg just so everyone was on the same page.

@maloki we should really just use SI unit quantifiers :3
like, there are roughly 7.5 Giga humans on the planet.
