the moment of humor for Mustang failing to use his alchemy in rain is very very needed for Ed laying down and agreeing to die.

Armstrong is needed to remove the actual pain of literally watching Ed look like a child and roll over to die.

oh yeah, FMA also tried its best to have a longterm conversation about war crimes, how war leads to racism, and the pain to the refugees that were destroyed in the middle of it all. and how the hate that they have to their oppressors is understandable
