re: fma:b rewatch

wish they included the corrupt gold mine dude's scam

that shit was funny as hell in the manga.

but he comes back later. so i guess that's fine.

re: fma:b rewatch

FUCK SHOU TUCKER TIME

re: fma:b rewatch

GET AWAY FROM NINA YOU FUCK

re: fma:b rewatch

god. they got the just unsettling enough voice for tucker.

re: fma:b rewatch

might also watch the OG FMA episode of Shou Tucker, because it was done MUCH better.

Can't even deny that.

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed being a good guy and deciding he needs to stretch right after Nina tells him her sob story.

re: fma:b rewatch

Hughes having family photos on his desk is so fucking wholesome.

re: fma:b rewatch

do LOVE that they edited Al's voice to have a metallic tin. Which is v good.

re: fma:b rewatch

"Daddy says he's going to play with Alex and me tomorrow!" - NIna.

FUCKI NO

re: fma:b rewatch

Watched all the versions of shou tucker being an abomination.

now to continue the show.

re: fma:b rewatch

but the beauty of this show not just having realistic villains and multifaceted heros.

but also to not ignore the severe depravity of a world like this. and to show how that shit actively effects the children main characters and how they're allowed to cry but warned that this is only the tip of depravity

re: fma:b rewatch

ed's actually pain in hearing that nina is dead.

and Hawkeye being the best and putting her foot down and refusing to allow the children to see nina's dead body

re: fma:b rewatch

and them focusing on the trauma done to the children during the uprising in liore is v good.

re: fma:b rewatch

envy is canon nonbinary.

he/him pronouns, female voice actor.

re: fma:b rewatch

I know Scar is actually good.

but that doesn't mean that I'm not always on fucking edge during their initial fight when Scar almost kills Ed like 5 times.

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed legitimately looks like a child when Scar destroys his arm.

re: fma:b rewatch

the moment of humor for Mustang failing to use his alchemy in rain is very very needed for Ed laying down and agreeing to die.

re: fma:b rewatch

Armstrong is needed to remove the actual pain of literally watching Ed look like a child and roll over to die.

re: fma:b rewatch

oh yeah, FMA also tried its best to have a longterm conversation about war crimes, how war leads to racism, and the pain to the refugees that were destroyed in the middle of it all. and how the hate that they have to their oppressors is understandable

re: fma:b rewatch

Hughes: this is why he wouldn't fucking eat. Why the fuck didn't you tell me Roy?

Roy: whooooooops

re: fma:b rewatch

"oooh great, and now my arm's come off because my brother's a big, fat idiot!"

re: fma:b rewatch

and then back to serious about how genocide is traumatic as fuck.

re: fma:b rewatch

and a moment of Ed's immaturity in how he can't understand the pain of the colonized.

Luckily, he changes right after being on friendly terms with Scar.

but ooooooof

re: fma:b rewatch

love that in the manga, it is confimred that Shou Tucker is the only person who went to hell.

literally even the homonculi went to heaven

re: fma:b rewatch

something that's great about this anime starting after the full manga was done are the MOTHERFUCKING ALLUSIONS that they are able to do.

re: fma:b rewatch

ed is so tiny next to armstrong.

re: fma:b rewatch

Al with the sheep. :)))))

re: fma:b rewatch

god, ed without his arm just hits me how TINY he is before he starts to gain weight.

eating for fucking 2

re: fma:b rewatch

god, the fact that his slight size is actually a fucking plot point and not just to make jokes is so fucking good.

re: fma:b rewatch

PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE ARMSTRONG FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS

re: fma:b rewatch

GOD I LOVE ARMSTRONG

re: fma:b rewatch

Maroh's pain is so fucking valid. Seeing Ed be in such a shitty place.

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed is such a good kid.

re: fma:b rewatch

Awwwww Winry timeeee

re: fma:b rewatch

Armstrong meeting the family is the funniest shit.

Follow

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed lying about his pain and what's going on to keep Winry innocent.

because he doesn't want to have his home tainted by his fuckery.

re: fma:b rewatch

also always forget that Ed is a disabled character until he does his adjustments.

re: fma:b rewatch

GOOD DOGGO GOING TO TRISHA'S GRAVE WITH ED

re: fma:b rewatch

Armstrong learning about Ed's upbringing after accidentally being too glib about Ed's strength.

re: fma:b rewatch

casual, "the brother's burned their house to the ground"

re: fma:b rewatch

Burning their house to ground to make sure they can't give up halfway.

Neglecting to see that they've made homes in every city they've traveled to along the way

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed with long hair, yes.

re: fma:b rewatch

aww the dog wiggles with Ed.

That's a bonded dog.

re: fma:b rewatch

as someone who has had to have their nerves connected to something.

God I FEEL THE FUCKING CONNECTION SCENE NOW.

I do get what Ed feels when he gets his automail reattached.

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed is in a similar tier as like Toph.

Very openly disabled, but everyone forgets because obviously the only disabled people are useless.

re: fma:b rewatch

i fucking love the cutesy art style of the first closing.

it's ed's drawings of all his friends and family.

it's adorable.

re: fma:b rewatch

Also love that it's obvious this was done by a female mangaka.

because winry isn't fucking sexualized.

she wears comfy clothes, and when working she's wearing a sportsbra.

but she's never sexualized

her sleepy clothes are baggy as fuck

re: fma:b rewatch

beautiful how they managed to make a joke using the narrator

re: fma:b rewatch

Lust and Gluttony are very good villains.

re: fma:b rewatch

they only get creepier the more and more you learn about them.

re: fma:b rewatch

Poor Ross and Brosh.

I love them so much.

re: fma:b rewatch

The straight men to the brother's bullshit

re: fma:b rewatch

SHESKAAAAAAA TIMEEEEEE

re: fma:b rewatch

ed learning about photographic knowledge.

re: fma:b rewatch

Good Ed paying for Sheska.

He's a good kid.

Using his money to actually go to people

re: fma:b rewatch

@magicalmilly

What's wild to me is- it already was? Iirc they say they're on the edge of the warzone really, and vague references that there was some stuff that happened near enough to Resembool. At the very least we can figure more than just Winry's parents were involved.
But it recovered, and healed. Scarred, in it's people that came back, even the animals represented by Den, but... overall fine?
Mmmm that's some good subtle themarics

re: fma:b rewatch

@katrani comunity, especially good community like their little village, can unite and grow.

and Ed and Al were too young to do anything about it. Hell, I bet it happened while they were off doing their alchemy training. Granny agreed to let them go as the fights got closer.

But to know that their loved ones would actively worry about them and have stress from them???? that's too much for the kids to introduce, because, well, they're still kids.
