diving into the fandom again while having the show on in the background.

watching the first opening a million times in a row because so good.

also amazed at the fact that apparently I'm not in the minority for preferring the dub for this one.

fma was the one manga series that I always spent days in Borders reading all of it without spending any money because I was poor and young.

Amazed when I finally got around to watching Brotherhood and actually seeing the Briggs arc.

anyways, will never stop praising how one of the universally best manga/anime ever was written by a woman.

fma:b rewatch

Anyways, forgot about how the villian in episode 1 was 100% not a villain. Fuck.

re: fma:b rewatch

also that black and white scene (with red only)

v good. v v good.

re: fma:b rewatch

i would die for you armstrong.

re: fma:b rewatch

skipping the past episode and liore.

because I actually watched a zillion clips from the origin story episode this morning

and because liore is trapped in my brain from the OG series and managa and this one and nfjdfjdsakfmsd

re: fma:b rewatch

i love roy's team. love them so much

re: fma:b rewatch

wish they included the corrupt gold mine dude's scam

that shit was funny as hell in the manga.

but he comes back later. so i guess that's fine.

re: fma:b rewatch

FUCK SHOU TUCKER TIME

re: fma:b rewatch

GET AWAY FROM NINA YOU FUCK

re: fma:b rewatch

god. they got the just unsettling enough voice for tucker.

re: fma:b rewatch

might also watch the OG FMA episode of Shou Tucker, because it was done MUCH better.

Can't even deny that.

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed being a good guy and deciding he needs to stretch right after Nina tells him her sob story.

re: fma:b rewatch

Hughes having family photos on his desk is so fucking wholesome.

re: fma:b rewatch

do LOVE that they edited Al's voice to have a metallic tin. Which is v good.

re: fma:b rewatch

"Daddy says he's going to play with Alex and me tomorrow!" - NIna.

FUCKI NO

re: fma:b rewatch

Watched all the versions of shou tucker being an abomination.

now to continue the show.

re: fma:b rewatch

but the beauty of this show not just having realistic villains and multifaceted heros.

but also to not ignore the severe depravity of a world like this. and to show how that shit actively effects the children main characters and how they're allowed to cry but warned that this is only the tip of depravity

re: fma:b rewatch

ed's actually pain in hearing that nina is dead.

and Hawkeye being the best and putting her foot down and refusing to allow the children to see nina's dead body

re: fma:b rewatch

and them focusing on the trauma done to the children during the uprising in liore is v good.

re: fma:b rewatch

I know Scar is actually good.

but that doesn't mean that I'm not always on fucking edge during their initial fight when Scar almost kills Ed like 5 times.

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed legitimately looks like a child when Scar destroys his arm.

re: fma:b rewatch

the moment of humor for Mustang failing to use his alchemy in rain is very very needed for Ed laying down and agreeing to die.

re: fma:b rewatch

Armstrong is needed to remove the actual pain of literally watching Ed look like a child and roll over to die.

re: fma:b rewatch

oh yeah, FMA also tried its best to have a longterm conversation about war crimes, how war leads to racism, and the pain to the refugees that were destroyed in the middle of it all. and how the hate that they have to their oppressors is understandable

re: fma:b rewatch

Hughes: this is why he wouldn't fucking eat. Why the fuck didn't you tell me Roy?

Roy: whooooooops

re: fma:b rewatch

"oooh great, and now my arm's come off because my brother's a big, fat idiot!"

re: fma:b rewatch

and then back to serious about how genocide is traumatic as fuck.

re: fma:b rewatch

and a moment of Ed's immaturity in how he can't understand the pain of the colonized.

Luckily, he changes right after being on friendly terms with Scar.

but ooooooof

re: fma:b rewatch

love that in the manga, it is confimred that Shou Tucker is the only person who went to hell.

literally even the homonculi went to heaven

re: fma:b rewatch

something that's great about this anime starting after the full manga was done are the MOTHERFUCKING ALLUSIONS that they are able to do.

re: fma:b rewatch

ed is so tiny next to armstrong.

re: fma:b rewatch

Al with the sheep. :)))))

re: fma:b rewatch

god, ed without his arm just hits me how TINY he is before he starts to gain weight.

eating for fucking 2

re: fma:b rewatch

god, the fact that his slight size is actually a fucking plot point and not just to make jokes is so fucking good.

re: fma:b rewatch

PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE ARMSTRONG FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS

re: fma:b rewatch

GOD I LOVE ARMSTRONG

re: fma:b rewatch

Maroh's pain is so fucking valid. Seeing Ed be in such a shitty place.

re: fma:b rewatch

Ed is such a good kid.

Show newer

re: fma:b rewatch

@magicalmilly

The comedy balance that Arakawa and Studio Bones both manage is. So good. Like. how

re: fma:b rewatch

@katrani they know that you NEED comedy

people will not stay with something that only makes them cry and feel horrible.

like, we aren't watching this show to feel destroyed inside.

re: fma:b rewatch

@magicalmilly there are two kinds of people who watch FMA: those who focus on the cool alchemy fights and the conspiracy, and those who find all the subtext present in “there is no devil forcing them to do it.”

re: fma:b rewatch

@DissonantEevee this show/series is impeccable at getting you to understand that you have to keep morals even with politics.

and covering it up with showy anime fights because that's easier to sell.
