nazis, please help

If anyone is in Indiana. Especially Southern Indiana.

Please feel free to help kick the Nazis out of Bloomington.

The town won't do anything and they're trying to normalize themselves by selling fucking veggies at the Farmer's Markey while spreading nazi bullshit.

My friends that live there have been complaining about it and are trying to do something, but don't know how.

Please help stop this.

nazis, please help

hey @larrydavis don't you live in indiana?

nazis, please help

@magicalmilly Might i suggest some specific examples of what they did that warrents the title of "Nazi". I think this would help people judge how urgent this call for help is and might get a more useful reaction.

nazis, please help

@magicalmilly Uh, not that it maybe matters, but Bloomington isn't Southern Indiana. I believe they call that part "Central" Indiana and it's a couple hours north of Southern Indiana by guzzoline in a Mad Max style caravan.

Source: I live across the river from Southern Indiana but mostly try to avoid prolonged visits to Indiana when I can.

re: nazis, please help

@magicalmilly

feels like Bloomington could use a #MilkshakeBrigade visit 😈

nazis, please help

@magicalmilly
Suggestion:
-Organize all the other farmers to compete with whatever the nazis are selling.
-Make (pointed) signs that express how their veggies are "nazi-free"

@ExperimentV I don't really have any more connections with the farmer's market community anymore, since I moved away.

I mainly made this post to let people from that region know that there was a place you could help, since I can't really anymore.

@magicalmilly
One thing that's been done where I'm from is for locals to organise evening vigils holding candles outside wherever the nazi congregate.

In one town it worked almost instantly, in another took 15 years and much more radical action, so YMMV.

But it does tend to be easier to get locals up to that kind of action in places where there's not many activists.

@magicalmilly WTF. Did the punk scene there die? I used to hang out in Bloomington somewhat regularly in the Plan-It-X days and I can't imagine the folx I knew back then putting up with that shit.

nazis, please help

@magicalmilly Fuck. Really? Now I'm having flashbacks to Benjamin Nathaniel Smith. *shivers*

I haven't lived in Bloomington for many years but I still have friends there, I'll talk to them and see if they are aware.

@magicalmilly Update, please bear in mind I'm getting info second hand. I will just c/p what I was told.

"Appears that a vendor at the Farmer's Market, Schooner Creek Farms, has been sharing some of their white supremacy ideas on the web and at Farmer's Market. Some vendors at Bloomington and at Nashville have been complaining about them for months."

nazis, please help

@magicalmilly "Last weekend a professor was arrested for demonstrating against them in the wrong area of the Market. (Apparently, the professor was standing near the vendor instead of in the "designated" demonstration area.) Mayor Hamilton has suspended the Market for 2 weekends to let things calm down and to see what they can do."

nazis, please help

@magicalmilly "The owners of the Schooner Creek Farms -- Sarah Dye -- have been accused of being connected with a white supremacy group that has been active on campus and has vandalized Jewish temples in Indiana. She claims they are not, but she has been active on the group's website and in blogs."

nazis, please help

@magicalmilly "Last night they posted that Blooming Foods was going to host a farmer's market today, with Schooner Creek NOT invited. Blooming Food is private property, meaning they can invite who they please; Farmer's Market downtown is on city property, making it harder to deny groups."

Bloomingfoods is the local food co-op and has hosted markets in the past, so this seems like a good development.
