people I was wondering about my . It came with a few options:: Iris Scanner, and Fingerprint Scanner, etc. Can you tell me more about these, like how much security they'd add. The phone doesn't.

@lapis I don't come from a security background but the iris scanner in particular scares me, from a health perspective. samsung.com/us/irisscanner/

I do use the fingerprint scanner, but only when the phone has already been unlocked by a secret.

@annika @lapis my phone is the same.

fingerprint after unlock from secret, I wouldn't like just biometric alone

@lottie @annika This is what I was looking for, thank you!

@lapis @annika but that said the secret is a weakness and the biometrics is another vector (but only after first unlock) less vectors available at first, the better)
@lapis @annika note: I have almost no authority on the subject this is just a bit of my own opinion ive picked up by looking into the subject and bypassing security for fun

@annika Ack, that is the iris scanner I have, and I have dizziness issues. I will pass. Thank you!

@lapis
The general consensus is that biometrics (fingerprints, face readers, etc.) are great identifiers and terrible passwords. The most basic issue with using a fingerprint as a password is: what do you do when someone gets your fingerprint?

Here's one article about it: blog.dustinkirkland.com/2013/1

@mikeburns That is a really good point! Thank you so much!
