Hey! My girlfriend is a fantastic elf who has hit an incredibly rough patch. Her work has been giving her fewer and fewer hours while also increasing the mental strain of working, so she has been trying to hunt for a better job, continuing to run her own artisan jewelry business which is currently experiencing the post-holiday slump, and doing her best to remain connected to her communities and social support networks, all while dealing with chronic issues which make recovering from her work shifts incredibly difficult, let alone any of the other things she does.

I won't sugar-coat it, she doesn't have enough to make ends meet despite everything she is doing.
