Last night while I couldn't sleep I found myself possessed by a strange spirit which compelled me to hook up the PS3 and play Demon's Souls
Girls, if you thought Dark Souls was slow compared to something like Bloodborne or Eldy, you should go play Demon's Souls. Noah Caldwell-Gervais compared Dark Souls 1 to a turn-based game but Demon's Souls feels at times almost literally turn-based. It is WILD how far the series has come.
I haven't played this game since like
Maybe literally since I was in high school
And it's very funny to go back to it now and see all these setups that stumped me for literal hours and just breeze through them because I'm a lot smarter and also better at video games in general and Souls games specifically
Also holy shit the thumbsticks on my PS3 controller are SO LOOSE, they feel awful
It's also VERY funny to approach the game the way I play Eldy (no shield, we dodge roll like men) because so much of Demon's Souls does seem to assume you'll have a shield up
It's not like the game punishes you for playing a more mobile style, it just reveals a lot of limitations of the encounter design
The game is janky, it has a lot of bad systems that don't make sense, it's slower'n molasses on a winter morning, and I think I like it
@coriander i think you might be straight up haunted tbh
@coriander the thing is you can just like bad games, no one can stop you
@niki @coriander sonic fans have been proving this to be true for decades
well except with sonic boom. i don't think anybody liked that one
@coriander @maple @niki or if they never patched out the hilarious launch bugs, at least more ironic fans
@himbovoorhees @coriander @niki at least we got some good writing out of the sonic boom cartoon
@maple @coriander @niki also Boom gave us sexy dorito Eggman
@himbovoorhees @maple @coriander @niki as a TV show, Boom is hilarious. The games on the other hand.
@coriander as a Rain World enjoyer I have a feeling that the atmosphere and lethargic pace of demon's souls will speak to me more than Dark Souls 1 did
