@corianderMy hot take about the holidays is that too many people are keeping traditions that are causing them way too much stress simply because they are traditions
™ supreme goblin @corianderI have a very nontraditional view of this time of year because until we moved to Washington 8 years ago my mom was in pet care and we literally were never home for Christmas, we were always going out and taking care of other people's pets, so we don't have a ton of very strict traditions beyond, like, "dad and I bake cookies at some point a few days before unless we're not feeling it, in which case we don't."
The first year I did Christmas with my girlf and her family was insane to me because they were all getting so hung up and stressed out over these tiny details. We have to do this, we have to eat this, after church we come back and listen to this and at a specific point the girls go lie under the tree for a few minutes for some reason, we eat this for breakfast and follow this strict schedule, and everyone is stressed all the time!! And all I can think is "Why are you doing all of this?"

We don't even have plans for anything, it's Christmas, we're all on break
