As my profile says. I'm an educator, game designer, miniatures-painter, programmer, and tabletop wargamer.
I love mecha, but I hate mechs with hands.
Casual musings, WIPs and final results posted through this account. Feel free to chat me up about anything I post.

I'm not a "witch" or an LGBT+ person or a techie so it's not like I can go flip through a few Mastodon instances and find a place that gives me energy to simply immerse in.
I'm happy those spaces exists for those people, but I'm intermittently here only because it makes for a harmless nervous habit.
-I like viewing art, but most art I like to view is posted elsewhere. And I definitely don't feel like registering more accounts on more Instances trying to collect artists I like. Tweetdeck's list-viewing system does this job amicably because, well, everyone uses Twitter.
It feels like, for me and people I generally like, Mastodon is specifically a place to be loudly, and (sort of) publicly someone that would otherwise attract aggression and negative attention from assholes.
My feelings on Mastodon right now are:
-If I want to talk to people directly, I join their servers on Discord;
-If I'm into a particular project or concept, I should also join their servers on Discord;
-If I want to talk to myself, more people will see it if I do it on Twitter, or even Tumblr.
-Everyone who makes miniatures/scale models either streams on Twitch or posts on Twitter.

This is partially me thinking about Durandal in Marathon, partially me thinking about how Gun Gale Online's drama is utterly dependent on the assumption that anyone worth talking to would want to hang out with Pitohui.
A lot of sci fi fiction loses my interest because it assumes that I have ANY interest in general misanthropy.
I've BEEN to that edge. Unless you're going to show me how that mentality interacts with the good people of the world, how to use it to protect oneself, where it does more harm than good...I want you to focus on the better people in your setting. Don't take me for a car ride and expect me to enjoy sitting next to an internet misanthrope.
no no, silicon valley didn't just reinvent buses or libraries, they're privatising those services so they can price out undesirables.
