This is an extraordinary video, plotting life expectancy vs. income per country, with color-coding per continent/area. Hans Rosling - who died last year of pancreatic cancer, RIP - was an extraordinary statistician, and I beg you to take five minutes to watch his video and another five to see what we can do to bring the world toward convergence again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbkSRLYSojo
Here's my hot "Devil Went Down to Georgia" take:
I feel like agreeing to a contest with the devil, alone, is probably the trick. The second Johnny said yes his soul was hell-bound.

Does anyone have extra asthma inhalers they can spare? This is an ongoing crisis, and they've been lucky to get through it this far.

Mixing boards looks super complicated when you first see them but they have a logic to them that doesn't take long to figure out. Chances are you can ignore 90% of the board, for a meeting you only care about input, panning, levels (volume) and output. I don't need to play with FX (although I suppose I could put a reverb on someone as a prank), rarely need to look at the EQ other than to be sure it wasn't accidentally touched, and we don't do a control room so no CR outs need be touched.

In some ways, it was honestly a lot like the current fediverse. In other ways, it was not at all like the current fediverse.

It's an archive of Usenet, updating in real time, as if people were making these posts.

A #gamedev I know is asking for feedback on the combat system for their new game, which is a dungeon-crawling RPG inspired by Wizardry and Might and Magic. You can check out Rift Riders: Call of the Maelstrom here (Windows only, sadly): https://pixelcomrades.itch.io/rift-riders
